About Crystal Red Caridina Shrimp Crystal Red Shrimp are selectively bred bee shrimp from the Caridina cantonensis species complex. Their distinctive red-and-white bands vary in coverage and opacity. This listing is for mixed-grade shrimp, so individual patterns and grades will vary rather than conform to a single premium grade.
Aquarium Setup & Care Crystal Reds do best in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable, soft, slightly acidic water. An active buffering aquasoil and RO/DI water remineralized with a GH-only shrimp mineral are commonly used to maintain low KH and suitable pH. Add mosses, plants and hiding spaces, use a sponge filter or protected intake, and check ammonia and nitrite are zero before introducing shrimp. Avoid sudden parameter changes and copper-based medications.
Feeding & Nutrition Breeding Crystal Red Caridina Shrimp Crystal Red Shrimp can reproduce in a mature, stable soft-water aquarium. Females carry eggs beneath the abdomen, and the young hatch as miniature shrimp. Moss and established biofilm help support shrimplets. Mixed-grade parents can produce a range of red-and-white patterns; offspring are not guaranteed to match a particular grade. Keep a dedicated colony if you want to manage breeding lines.
Acclimation & Live Shipping Check shrimp promptly upon arrival and acclimate carefully to differences in temperature, pH and dissolved minerals. Gradual drip acclimation is often appropriate for these sensitive soft-water shrimp. Avoid abrupt changes. Orders are supported by The Wet Leaf's 100% Live Arrival Guarantee, subject to published terms.

No. Crystal Reds are Caridina bee shrimp that generally require softer, lower-KH water than Neocaridina Cherry Shrimp. Can Crystal Red Shrimp live in ordinary tap water? Only if its tested chemistry is appropriate and stable. Many keepers use remineralized RO/DI water and active aquasoil for consistency. Are they suitable for beginners? They are better suited to aquarists prepared to maintain stable soft-water conditions.
