Build an Estimative Index (EI) nutrient routine for your freshwater planted aquarium with four individually packaged NAS dry fertilizers.
Base kit contents
- Potassium Nitrate (KNO₃) — 500 g
- Potassium Sulfate (K₂SO₄) — 200 g
- Monopotassium Phosphate (KH₂PO₄) — 180 g
- CSM+B Chelated Micronutrients — 180 g
Total base fertilizer weight: 1,060 g. All six kit options include potassium nitrate and are subject to the verification requirements above.
The base kit is CAD $29.66, 10% less than buying the four base fertilizers individually at their current combined price of $32.96. Optional magnesium sulfate and dosing bottles are $3.99 each.
Choose your add-ons
Add magnesium sulfate — 180 g, or select no magnesium. Choose no dosing bottles, one dosing bottle, or two dosing bottles. Each optional bottle holds 500 mL and includes a 2 mL pump.
What is EI dosing?
Estimative Index, developed by Tom Barr, aims to keep plant nutrients available rather than allowing a nutrient shortage to limit growth. A common routine supplies macronutrients three times per week and trace nutrients three times per week, with a roughly 50% weekly water change to help control accumulation. Adjust the routine for actual water volume, plant growth, lighting, CO₂ and nutrients already in your water.
The supplied jar weights are package quantities, not a mixing recipe or a dose. Bottle capacity and pump size alone do not establish how much fertilizer your aquarium needs.
Plan your dose
Open our fertilizer dosing calculator
Use the calculator to examine nutrient additions for your actual water volume. A single-compound calculation is not a complete balanced recipe. Only use verified product analyses and a verified recipe when preparing stock solutions; no universal bottle recipe or pumps-per-tank dose is specified for this kit.
CSM+B formulas can differ. Match the guaranteed analysis on the supplied jar when planning doses. This mix contains copper; account for all copper sources when dosing aquariums with shrimp or other invertebrates.
Storage and handling
Keep the jars tightly closed in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children and pets. Potassium nitrate is an oxidizer and may intensify fire: keep it away from heat, flames and combustible materials. Avoid breathing dust and use protective gloves and eye protection when handling. Not for human or animal consumption.
