About Red Mosura Caridina Shrimp Red Mosura Shrimp are selectively bred bee-type Caridina prized for their white-dominant bodies with concentrated red markings, often near the head and tail. The placement, intensity and opacity of markings vary naturally between individuals. Mosura describes a sought-after pattern rather than a separate wild species, and a specific competition grade is not guaranteed unless stated.
Aquarium Setup & Care Provide a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable, soft, acidic, low-KH water. Active buffering aquasoil and RO/DI water remineralized with a GH-only shrimp mineral are commonly used for bee-type Caridina. Add mosses, plants, established biofilm and hiding spaces, plus a sponge filter or protected intake. Keep ammonia and nitrite undetectable, and avoid sudden water changes and copper-based medications.
Feeding & Nutrition Breeding Red Mosura Caridina Shrimp Red Mosura Shrimp can reproduce in a mature, stable soft-water aquarium. Females carry eggs beneath the abdomen, and the young hatch as miniature shrimp. Dense moss and established biofilm support shrimplets. Keep a dedicated breeding colony and select adults with the desired red-and-white pattern to improve consistency over generations; offspring patterns are not guaranteed.
Acclimation & Live Shipping Inspect shrimp promptly upon arrival and acclimate carefully to differences in temperature, pH and dissolved minerals. Gradual drip acclimation is commonly recommended for sensitive soft-water Caridina. Avoid abrupt changes. Orders are supported by The Wet Leaf's 100% Live Arrival Guarantee, subject to published terms.
Frequently Asked Questions What makes a Red Mosura different from a standard Crystal Red Shrimp? Mosura is a white-dominant pattern with red markings concentrated in limited areas, rather than the more typical alternating red-and-white bands.Does Mosura mean every shrimp is SSS grade? Mosura is a pattern designation; individual quality and opacity vary, and this listing does not promise a specific formal grade. Are Red Mosura Shrimp beginner-friendly? They are better suited to keepers prepared to maintain stable, soft, acidic Caridina water. Can they breed with Crystal Red Shrimp? Closely related bee-shrimp lines can interbreed, so separate colonies are recommended if preserving a specific pattern is important.
