Winter is Here! We've made a few changes to our shipping policy.
The cold weather is here! At least for a few months any way. We've made a few changes to our shipping policy and perhaps we can expand on a few details here.
Plants and shrimp that are exposed to freezing temperatures will die. Yes plants ship better in cooler temps, but not freezing. We have found that fast shipping is the best way to make sure that your plants arrive to you in great condition. Faster shipping methods reduce the time that packages could be left in the back of a postal truck or in and unheated warehouse for more than a couple hours. Our faster methods are Priority (1-2 days) and Express Post (1-3 days). Expedited parcel (1-7) days is just a fancy name for Regular parcel. If you have any Question about shipping times please don't hesitate to contact us.
We will use heat packs and insulated boxes when needed, but this in no way makes up for fast shipping. Our heat packs only last up to 72 hours. Express post is 3 days/ 72 hours to most of Canada, so that works out fairly well. Also please leave us a note when you check out if you think one may be needed due to cold weather in your area. Our boxes usually look something like this.

Check out Flex Delivery from Canada Post, its free just sign up! Basically they hold your package at the post office for you to pick up. Reducing the chance that plants will be exposed to freezing temperatures. And in many cases you will get your plants faster. We have had great success to date with Flex Delivery.
Also don't forget that when choosing your shipping option that the number of shipping days is business days, weekends aren't included. For example, Expedited parcel will be quoted at 1-7 days for a package to eastern Canada shipped from Calgary. Include the weekend and shipping time is 9 days. Not that great for plants and shrimp, you would most likely receive a block of ice. If you're local, Calgary and area, all shipping methods will take the same amount of time. The cheapest shipping method is alright. For everybody else, to give you a bit of an idea, Express post is generally a good option for BC, AB, SASK, and large urban centres. By large we mean the big citys, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, etc. Smaller towns and more remote areas may take longer than the shipping standard. Your likely are aware if you have ordered any thing online in the past. Remember faster is better and you can calculate shipping time here. Our postal code is T3G 4Z7.
We are here to help, Get in touch with us if you have any questions. We want you to receive quality plants in the best condition possible.
